Claire L. Glynn, Ph.D., is a Professor of Forensic Science at the University of New Haven, Connecticut, and Co-Executive Director of the Henry C. Lee Institute of Forensic Science. Before her academic tenure, Dr. Glynn worked as a Forensic Scientist in the Forensic Biology Unit (in the Homicide and Sexual Assault team) at LGC Forensics (now Eurofins Forensic Services) in Oxfordshire, United Kingdom. Dr. Glynn earned her doctorate degree at the University of Galway, Ireland, conducting groundbreaking research within the Discipline of Surgery in the College of Medicine, Nursing, and Health Sciences. Her doctoral research focused on identifying novel biomarkers (microRNAs) for breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, showcasing her interdisciplinary expertise.

Since joining the University of New Haven faculty in 2014, Dr. Glynn has been a leading force in forensic science research, specializing in forensic biology, forensic DNA analysis, and Forensic Investigative Genetic Genealogy (FIGG). She is the Founding Director of the university’s online Graduate Certificate in FIGG, the first program of its kind in the world, advancing the field through education and innovation.

Dr. Glynn has published numerous journal articles and book chapters that contribute to the advancement of forensic science. She is also an active communicator of forensic topics through various media, including podcasts, news media, and film/documentary productions. Her expertise has been featured in educational and investigative shows and series, helping to bridge the gap between forensic science and public understanding.

Beyond academia, Dr. Glynn actively consults and serves as a subject matter expert for law enforcement agencies across the United States and internationally. Recognized globally as an expert in forensic DNA analysis and FIGG, she is a sought-after speaker at forensic science and law enforcement conferences, symposia, and professional forums.
