Hear from Law Enforcement professionals as they share techniques that they have used with Predictive Analytics in Policing and Social Media in Investigations. This will be a practical training session led by former law enforcement professionals from around the country.

Predictive Analytics in Policing:

This session features practitioner case studies of actual predictive analytics in policing agencies showing results of prevention, apprehension and other successful outcomes. During this session, you will see how the presenter leveraged the capabilities of the ATACRAIDS regional data and analytics tool in conjunction with public records data and the power of identities and linking to support operational deployment, agency decision-making and desired outcomes.

Social Media in Investigations:

With 51% of law enforcement using social media for crime prevention and 67% agreeing it is an effective tool for crime anticipation, this session will detail how social media can more effectively be used to advance predictive policing capabilities and forecast criminal activity. It will offer real-world scenarios to demonstrate the impact social media can have on the tactical, operational and long-term strategic intelligence gathering and analysis process. Importantly, it will outline how law enforcement can unlock the value of social media data to discover risks and threats and gain actionable intelligence.

Keynote Speakers:

Sean Bair – Former Crime Analyst and Police Officer for the Tempe, AZ Police Department, Senior Business Consultant, LexisNexis
Mr. Bair was the Assistant Director at the National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center as well as a former Crime Analyst and Police Officer for the Tempe, AZ Police Department.  He is the creator and developer of ATAC (Automated Tactical Analysis of Crime) analytical software which is currently used in hundreds of law enforcement, defense agencies and academic institutions worldwide.  He holds an MBA from the University of Denver’s Daniels Colle of Business and is currently pursuing his doctorate.

Kenneth Mekeel – Inspector, New York City Police Department (Ret.), Government Public Safety Business Development Specialist, LexisNexis
Ken Mekeel joined LexisNexis after serving over 34 years in the New York City Police Department (NYPD). He retired in 2014 as Inspector and Commanding Officer for the NYPD Real Time Crime Center (RTCC).  Previously he held a variety of command positions including Commanding Officer of the Detective Bureau Queens Major Crimes Unit; Division Commander and Investigative Coordinator for Detective Bureau Queens; Commanding Officer of NYPD’s Detective Bureau Training and Counter Terrorism Unit; Commanding Officer and Executive Officer of various NYPD Precinct Commands; and Commanding Officer of NYPD’s Scuba Team. Mekeel was also the Incident Leader for Identifications for the New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner after the World Trade Center attacks.  Mekeel holds a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Psychology from the State University of New York at Oneonta, and is accredited as a Certified Project Management Professional through the Learning Tree International.

Mike Prate – Detective, 1st Grade New York City Police Department (Ret.), Sr. Crime Data Analyst, LexisNexis
Prior to joining LexisNexis, Mike was a 27 year member of the New York City Police Department (NYPD). His career included 12 years in uniform patrol and 15 years as a Detective.  Prate served as a 10 year member of the NYPD Hostage Negotiation and member of POPPA which supported members of law enforcement struggling with personal crisis, suicide and PTSD. Retiring in 2012 as a Detective 1st Grade and a Departmental Medal of Valor recipient, he supports the LexisNexis Law Enforcement team by providing his expertise and insight to better navigate the law enforcement market, particularly with training and product development that serve the needs of the investigative community.

Rick Graham – Chief of Detectives for the Jacksonville, FL Sheriff’s Office (Ret.), Law Enforcement Business Development Specialist, LexisNexis
Rick joined LexisNexis after serving 34 years as an active duty law enforcement officer.  He retired as Chief of Detectives for the Jacksonville, FL Sheriff’s Office after working his way up through the ranks.  Previously, he held a variety of different positions at the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, including Narcotics Detective, Burglary Detective, Intelligence Unit Investigator, Patrol Sergeant, Narcotics Sergeant, Field Training Sergeant, Narcotics Task Force Supervisor, Patrol Lieutenant, Homicide Unit Commander, and Assistant Chief of Detectives.  Graham holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Columbia College of Missouri.  He also has a State of Florida Criminal Justice Instructor Certificate as well as a variety of specialized law enforcement related certificates.  Rick Graham is a Law Enforcement Business Development Specialist with LexisNexis Risk Solutions.  In this position, he supports the product development team, the law enforcement marketing team, the sales team and the solutions consultants.

Identification (LEA issued, if possible) will be required to enter the training.
