DESCRIPTION:June 8-12\, 2026\, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. \nThe curriculum covers a wide range of topics essential to developing the skills necessary to successfully investigate a crime scene\, while identifying\, analyzing\, and collecting bloodstain evidence using various techniques and procedures to include: \n\nUnderstanding the development of bloodstain pattern analysis (BPA)\nUnderstanding the limitations of BPA\nRecognition of key bloodstain pattens and the mechanism by which they were created\nConvergence for groups of bloodstains\nImpact angles\nProtective measures to follow in bloodstain scenes\nProper documentation\nAbility to evaluate basic bloodstain patterns\n\nThis training is ideal for detectives\, patrol officers\, crime scene investigators\, and evidence specialists. \nPOST Credits Awarded. Certificates of Completion provided. \nInstructor: Dr. Peter Valentin\nDr. Peter Valentin is the chairperson of the Forensic Science program at the University of New Haven. Testified in court at hearings and trial and has written and executed search warrants as well as arrest warrants. \nDr. Valentin has provided expert analysis and crime scene reconstruction based on case materials and laboratory report review. Trained police officers and judicial officials in forensic disciplines such as crime scene reconstruction\, bloodstain pattern analysis\, and shooting incident reconstruction. \n  \n  \nContact Tom Grimaldi (Director of Training) at TGrimaldi@newhaven.edu for more information.
