Understanding bloodstain patterns from crime scenes assists in the interpretation of the events that occurred. The positions of the involved persons and directions of force, weapons, blood volume, and patterns can be determined through proper investigative and reconstruction techniques. Newly developed software can assist the investigator and crime scene reconstructionist in documenting and re-creating the crime scene in a virtual reality. These methods are most helpful in court proceedings and in public presentations.
This course will help the student with a basic bloodstain analysis understanding determine time and sequence of bloodstain formation, causes and area of origin, conduct experiments to test hypotheses, and use 3D software in reconstruction exercises.
The number of students admitted will be limited for more hands on training time. Early registration is encouraged.
